Knitting Lessons
I give 1-on-1 personal attention instruction to beginning knitters, one hour at a time (more if you prefer, but one hour is a good amount for getting many of the basics down), at a mutually agreeable cafe for $20 an hour.
Lessons can be in the morning, evening, weekends, weekdays, whenever, just shoot me an e-mail using the link at the bottom of the page to arrange it. Materials are not included, but can easily be arranged.

Spinning Lessons
Spinning your own yarn is addictively fun, hypnotic and relaxing. I offer 1-on-1 spinning instruction using a wheel for $30 an hour.

If you are interested in learning to spin on a hand spindle, I can teach you that too! The cost is the same, $30 an hour, but the cost of the handspindle and 8 oz. of fiber is included and "yours to keep" as they say in the infomercials.
Handspindling is an excellent & inexpensive way to learn the fundamentals of yarn making, since it slows the process down which can aid focus.

Spinning Wheel & Fiber Prep Equipment Rentals
I have a Louet S17 available for rental at a rate of $15 per week. It is a very versatile single treadle wheel, user-friendly, and a good way to see if spinning is "your thing" before investing a huge amount of money in a wheel.



You can keep the wheel for as long as your heart desires, and any fibers you purchase from Lanas de Libélula during your rental period will be subject to a further 5% discount from the LdL's website prices.
However, I do require a refundable deposit of $250, either by check or credit card, which will only be deposited/charged if you run off and join the circus with the wheel, both of you never to be seen again by loved ones and family without the price of a ticket to the bigtop (or return it with an unusual amount of wear and tear).


I also have a set of Indigo Hound's 5 pitch English style wool combs available for rental. These are used for fiber preparation and can be quite fun once you get into the rhythm.
Rental includes a laminated set of instructions, clamps, combs, everything but the wool. The refundable deposit is $130, and the rental fee is $10 per week or part thereof.
And since this is California after all, and these things are VERY sharp, there might be a stern safety lecture involved somewhere in there.


A set of Strauch Fiber Co. wool handcards are also available for rent. The refundable deposit is only $60, and the rental fee a mere $7.50 per week or part thereof. No stern safety lectures are involved with these babies, just quick instruction if you need it.
