Here are Nick and my most recent results from Plum Pottery in South Park, just north of Juniper on 30th.
Nick's two are in the middle, mine are the outside ones.
Nick wasn't very happy with the way his glazes turned out, but I think he made some beautiful shapes.
This one is my favorite:
It has beautiful shaping inside as well:
He also made a smaller one I've been drinking my tea from, and it will be useful for sauces as well.
The glazing inside and shape are lovely:
I really like how his cups feel in my hands. Who needs handles with shapes like these? We are having a great time with this and really look forward to it every week. Annie, the teacher, is very relaxed but also very focused on getting you to train your body into the right positions to make it easy.
So, er, Pottery is the New Yoga. Just kidding.
I'm really happy with the way my glazes came out and my pots/cups/whatevers.
This one's my favorite:
(ignore the dog hair on it that looks like a scratch on the glaze) It's a bit heavy-bottomed for a mug but I like its colors.
Here's the inside view, it's a very very dark blue:
I've also been experimenting with putting different dragonflies on them as signatures (I'm not alone in my hippy-dippiness, somebody else signs with a rune):
That last was on the bottom of this:
This thing is of an inbetween size. I've been using it as a coffee mug, then having my morning cereal out of it.
I tell ya, this pottery thing is really saving me dish-doing.
The glazes did an interesting thing inside this one.
I've started bringing a notebook to write down the shapes, clays and glazes, because my memory for this once-a-week thing hasn't been all that great. We each glazed two, and I think we'll both have two to trim next week too.
Woo-hoo!
